Words are counted by splitting on whitespace, so hyphenated words and contractions
count as one word each. Sentences are counted by looking for text ending in
., !, or ? โ it's a simple heuristic, so abbreviations with
periods can occasionally throw the count off by one or two. Paragraphs are counted
as blocks of text separated by a blank line. Read time is estimated at 200 words
per minute, a common average adult silent-reading speed.
